The North Hastings Quilt Club has held a Quilt
Show every 2 years since 2000. Our shows include our
raffle quilt, all the proceeds of which goes back into the
community. We display large and small quilts, club
challenges, features and miscellaneous. There areworks in
progress, the Bear Paw General Store, previous show
winners, toonie draw, merchants' mall and the Bear Paw Den
for a home-style lunch.
Quilt Show 2000

The North
Hastings Quilt Club held it's first Quilt Show since the
Club began in May 1992. In 2000 there were 43 members who
showed 78 large quilts, plus a great many small quilts.
There was a merchants' mall, demonstrations, antique
quilts and wearable art. All in all, a great success.

a feature of Vintage and Family quilts, and Challenges:
Mystery Quilt - Twisted Tails; 4 Season challenge; special
occasion quilt, wearable art. There were demonstrations on
Scrapie Quilts, Applique and Foundation Piecing.

This was the year that
Bancroft was named the Most Talented Town in Ontario. The
show had Quilts made by children and a fashion show of
wearable art. There was a display of members' First
Quilts, and Challenges of Creative Lottery, Ugly
challenge, Spectacle lake quilts and a Quilt that is not a
Quilt. Features were, a Perpetual Calendar and a Mystery
Quilt. There were demonstrations of Fabric Painting, Long
Arm quilting (Gammil).

Quilt Show 2006

This show had challenges - Book Cover, Log Cabin,
Miniature, Orange and Two Colour challenges. Children in
the community were invited to create a quilted item of
their choice and displays of their quilts were shown. We
had a Wearable Art fashion show, a Quilts N More Store and
Demonstrations.

Quilt Show 2008

This show's
challenges were - Christmas Tree, Row by Row, Spectacle
Lake Ugly, UFO, Charm Quilt and Historical Quilt
challenges, and a display of quilts made by local children
in the club's Quilting in the School Program. There were
Quilt Appraisals by Judy Lyons as well as a bed turning.
Judy Lyons brought a banner that was displayed which was
made by the Burlington (Ontario) Team Tour Band depicting
the 60th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 2004, Juno Beach,
Normandy, France. This banner consisted of almost 100
blocks made by students showing their impressions of
D-Day. She also brought a quilt depicting D-Day which was
created by band families.

Quilt Show 2010

The Challenges
for this show were ‘Think Pink’, ‘Rocky Mountain Ridges’
and ‘Borders Abound’. We had demos given by some of our
vendors in the Merchants’ Mall. We had a display of ‘what
the N.H.Q.C. does in the community’. There were door
prizes, a toonie draw, and the Bear Paw General Store. We
had ‘name that flower’ blocks where you were to guess the
flower from the interpretation in the blocks. On display
was the Maynooth Library quilt which consists of some
blocks made by our members depicting this area. There were
also quilts made by children in the community. You could
relax and have a delicious lunch or just tea and coffee in
the Bear Paw Den. Raffle tickets were sold on our queen
size quilt along with 2nd prize of a lap quilt and 3rd
prize, a tote bag. All items in this show were made
exclusively by members of our club. This year the
Visitors’ Choice first place winners were spilt into two
categories - ‘hand quilted’ and ‘machine quilted’..
